The three-tank local dive is designed for divers who want to experience more of the Belize Barrier Reef in a single day while still enjoying comfortable surface intervals back on shore.
Explore More of the Belize Barrier Reef
With the reef sitting only minutes offshore from Ambergris Caye, Belize Pro Dive Center has access to more than 30 local dive sites directly in front of San Pedro.
Your divemaster selects the day's dive sites based on weather, sea conditions, diver experience and the sites you have already visited. Whenever possible, repeat guests are taken somewhere new unless they specifically request a favorite site.
Three dives give you even more opportunity to experience the variety of reef formations and marine life found directly offshore from San Pedro.
Your Dive Day
The three-tank trip operates as one extended local diving experience running from the morning into the afternoon.
Meet the team, prepare your equipment and get ready for the day's diving.
Leave San Pedro for your first local Barrier Reef dive.
Return to the BPDC dock between dives to relax, hydrate and enjoy fresh fruit and snacks.
Return to the dive center after completing the third local reef dive.
Water, fresh fruit and snacks are provided during surface intervals. Lunch is not included, so guests should plan accordingly for this extended dive day.
What You'll Experience
Local diving around San Pedro is known for distinctive spur-and-groove reef formations that create coral canyons running along the Belize Barrier Reef.
Before every dive, your divemaster provides a detailed briefing covering the dive site, conditions, maximum depth and recommended bottom time.
Common marine-life encounters can include nurse sharks, turtles, rays, eels, groupers, snappers and a wide variety of Caribbean reef species, with occasional encounters with larger pelagic marine life.
Our standard recreational dive ratio is up to six divers for each divemaster. Groups may be smaller depending on the number and experience level of guests.
